Dog training, one small step at a time

Bokedex turns 18 everyday skills into small steps you can practice in a few minutes a day. It moves your dog up when they're ready, steps back when it's too hard, and keeps finished skills fresh.

Bokedex Train screen: today's plan with Sit at step 5 of 11 (hold sit 3 seconds), Stay next, a 4-minute session and this week's progress.

How it works

Three steps.

  1. Tell it about your dog

What they already know (nothing, the basics or a lot) and what you want: calm at home, manners, walks, coming when called or puppy basics.

  2. Train today's set

Bokedex picks today's skills. A set is a handful of short reps, and you mark each one as it happens.

  3. Move up or step back

Good sets on two different days unlock the next step. A hard set makes the next one easier. Finished skills come back for a quick weekly review.

A Bokedex training rep: the hold ring for Sit, “Treat, then Free!”, four reps done, with Held it and Broke buttons.
During a set, a ring times each hold. You mark every rep as it happens.

Four stages for every skill

Learn

Lure or shape the behavior until your dog offers it easily.

Duration

Hold it longer: a sit for 3 seconds, then 5, then 10.

Distance

Step away while your dog holds the position.

Real life

Do it in new places. A skill counts as solid once it works in two different places.

How a session goes

Open Train and start today's session. Each step shows one line on what to do, then you run the reps: tap when your dog is in position, and a ring times the hold. When it fills, treat, then say “Free!” to release. Your dog learns that the release word, not you walking away, ends the hold.

If your dog seems stressed, there's a button for that on every rep. It ends the set early, and the next set is shorter.

The camera coach

For timed holds like sit and stay, you can prop your phone up and let the camera count. It uses on-device pose detection to see when your dog is in position, times the hold, and pauses if your dog walks out of frame. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Reward-based, always

Every step uses rewards your dog actually wants, short sets and easy resets. No corrections and no leash pops. Skills that touch fear or guarding, like separation distress, open with a short safety note, and the app points you to a professional when it's more than a training problem.

What it can't do. Bokedex is a coach for everyday skills. Growling, snapping, guarding or panic when left alone deserve help from a vet or a qualified behavior professional alongside any training.

Questions

Train: common questions

Is it good for puppies?

Yes. Choose Puppy basics as a goal and the plan covers name recognition, sit, house training, handling, crate comfort, chew redirect and drop it.

How long is a training session?

A few minutes. Short sets keep your dog keen, and two or three a day beat one long one.

What if my dog isn't getting it?

Mark the reps honestly. A set that goes badly makes the next one easier, and the app steps back a level when a step is too hard.

Do I need treats?

Small, soft treats work best for most dogs. A favorite toy works too, as long as your dog really wants it.

What's included for free?

You can start training for free. Premium unlocks every skill and routine, more dogs and the camera coach.
